11 Swans
In a very distant land, twelve boys had to make the most difficult choice of their lives: to live calmly, safely, well-fed, but turn into swans and live forever in a small lake... or... face the dark and frightening forest, risking uncertainty, cold and hunger, but remain children, remain who they are and set off into the immensity of a world they don't know.
11 swans and the incredible story of those who overcame fear, giving up comfort so as not to lose their identity.
what the festival has to say
The Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro is an admirable structure. Its company is located right in the mountains, in a village where the theater has more seats than the village has inhabitants. It's a testament to the love of theater, dedication, and resilience.
Their fascinating theatrical proposals often explore the art of puppetry. That's why we're bringing you this show, which shows us a story, with obvious influences from the East, that unfolds between theater, objects, and puppets, always in a high quality artistic proposal, with poetics that leaves us attached to the story.
Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro
Thirty years of Teatro do Montemuro building history and creating stories doesn't come from fleeting moments of inspiration. There has to be a strategy, a structured thought process that supports the project so that it lasts over time. That's how it all began and that's how it will continue to be.
Teatro do Montemuro began its activity in 1990, working in an experimental way until 1995. The absence of cultural activities, the lack of opportunities and nonconformity led a group of young people to invest their energy in a project that would allow them to settle in their homeland. Today, the small village of Campo Benfeito, nestled among the hills of the Serra do Montemuro, has become a reference point for artistic creation, dissemination, and programming.
Teatro do Montemuro's obligation and vocation is to be an itinerant company that invests its human and technical resources in the circulation of its artistic productions. The company continues to focus on the creation of original contemporary texts, drawing inspiration from the most varied current situations. Everything happens in a collective process that brings together authors, directors, set designers, actors and musicians, and it is in this democratic way that the shows are born. The artistic identity was created on the basis of rural experiences, but above all through the human sharing that the company has promoted since the beginning. It is the collaborators who have contributed decisively to the company's growth at all levels. These collaborators travel from all over the world, mainly from the United Kingdom, to transmit their artistic lines in favor of creative diversity.
Teatro do Montemuro is based on a permanent team of seven people. It is a solid structure that invests its energies and resources in the creation, presentation, and dissemination of new artistic works.

that's how
We were sold out, and we are aware that the number of spectators recommended for this creation was exceeded. We'd like to thank the company who kindly agreed to this, and we're very pleased to see such a great turnout. How good it makes us feel for the public to mark their presence in this way.
The Teatro Regional da Serra do Montemuro company develops unique work, always with proposals that combine theater and puppetry, and so it was possible to bring theater and puppetry together on a sunny afternoon.
The show was a great success, winning over the audience because of the narrative it brought us, and because it connected the viewer to the ethical and moral values that underpin this creation.
