In just two square scenes, the lives of all of us are unfolded, the lives were never lived… With the use of top table puppets and cinematic narration, the puppeteers animate the puppets without being visible to the audience

At its premier in October 2019, the performance won the first prize for “Expressing Life with a Puppet” for the best animation performance in “Puppet is A Human Too” Festival at Theater Institute of Warsaw, Poland.

This creation from Germany was awarded a prize by the Warsaw Theater Institute in Poland. A company that has performed in more than 42 countries and is now performing in the city of Espinho.

This creation dedicated to an adult audience diversifies the Festival's proposed program with a creation that makes us ponder life and death, in a black humor with a sharp social critique.

Because the art of puppetry is wide-ranging in its offer to different audiences and aims to demystify itself, showing its broad and multigenerational language.

Merlin Puppet Theater

In 2001, they started performing with their own performances. Since then, they have created stories for an adult and young audience, and they’ve run hundreds of performances at theaters and international festivals in more than 42 countries around the world, including workshops on puppet creation and play.

In 2011 the group moved to Berlin, Germany.

They’ve participated in festivals, exhibitions, conferences and educational seminars for theater and the art of puppetry.

They’ve created puppets and props for other performers and artists such as The Tiger Lillies, Dirty Granny Tales and Opera Chaotique.

They are members of the Greek Puppet Centre UNIMA HELLAS.

Merlin Puppet Theatre lives and works in Berlin.

For the opening of the Mar~Marionetas Festival, we wanted to launch an international company with a proposal for an adult audience. We wanted to bring in an international structure with an award-winning theatrical project, showcasing the best of what is being done abroad. In the hall of the Centro Multimeios de Espinho, in front of a packed room, we spent a magnificent evening. The creation was almost cinematographic, with the intention of interconnecting the art of animated cinema and puppet theater. Unforgettable!
