The calm, blue sea, mirroring a summer sky, turns gray and terrible when winter arrives. And it is on the beach that the fishermen wait for the sea and the wind to calm down.

It's on the beach that everything begins, and every grain of sand tells a story… the story of Espinho, the story of the people who carry the sea in their strong, salty hands, in their liquid, deep eyes, in their blue blood.

The fundamental value of cultural mediation is unquestionable. So it was only right that the Municipal Museum of Espinho be challenged to put their shadow puppet theater creation into action, which talks about the city of Espinho, its evolution and its relationship with the sea. This creation full of small details and a captivating story will undoubtedly be a moment full of emotions.

Shadow puppetry dates back to ancient China and is a theater technique that has spread widely throughout the world.

We presented a proposal for which we have a lot of affection, the educational service. There were 3 performances to 3 sold-out crowds, completely sold out.

The mediation of audiences is deeply important in today's society. It is a means of understanding the history and the place where we live, what we take to be our territory, even if only briefly.

This cultural mediation was carried out by the team from the Educational Service of the Municipality of Espinho, which works hard to build initiatives and dialogues that place the viewer in a critical and analytical, but also pleasurable, observation of the work, the show, or the initiative, meeting the visitor's expectations.

This project makes it possible to get to know a little of what the city is, its history, the presence of fundamental built and cultural elements, which in a playful and poetic way are presented to all those who, throughout the year, in groups, intend to visit the Municipal Museum of Espinho.

We hope that there will be more opportunities for this program to be presented throughout the year, as we believe that the presence of cultural mediation, which uses puppets to engage in dialogue with audiences, is fundamental, as it is in many museums and monuments throughout Portugal.
